Certification Process: From Preparation to Certificate Issuance

The certification process is a structured and systematic journey designed to ensure that an organization’s management system meets established standards. It begins with pre-information and application, where the organization gathers initial details about certification requirements and submits its application. This phase may also include an informational meeting, if required, to clarify expectations, scope, and timelines between the organization and the certification body. Once both parties agree, an offer and contract are finalized.

The next phase focuses on preparation for certification and assessment of certification readiness. Here, the certification body schedules and plans the Stage 1 audit. This audit primarily evaluates documentation, readiness, and the organization’s understanding of standard requirements. Based on the findings, feedback and relevant information are shared with the customer. Any gaps identified at this stage help the organization prepare more effectively for the next step.

Following this, detailed planning for the Stage 2 audit takes place. Stage 2 is the core audit conducted at the company’s premises. During this audit, auditors assess the actual implementation and effectiveness of the management system across processes, departments, and activities. Information and observations are continuously communicated to the customer to ensure transparency.

After completion, a management system assessment report is prepared. This report highlights conformities, non-conformities, and areas for improvement. If non-conformities exist, the organization must implement corrective measures, which are then evaluated by the certification body. In some cases, a re-audit may be required to verify effective corrective action.

The final decision depends on whether certification requirements are fulfilled. If the answer is yes, the process concludes with certificate issuance, formally recognizing the organization’s compliance with the relevant standard. This structured approach ensures credibility, consistency, and continuous improvement throughout the certification journey.
